The History of VEGA
Vega is a family run business that has been producing high quality mechanical components and assemblies for over 40 years. Now that the second generation is in charge, the company is continues to be guided by values of passion for mechanics and reliability in relationships: ethics that have formed the basis for the continued growth and success of Vega. Passion and expertise, along with continuous research and innovation, are now the engine of the company which propel us to efficiently complete the projects that our customers require to the point of exceeding their expectations.
We can confiedently say, based on extensive experience, that a client of Vega will never find a more customer oriented company.
1964
Alberto Vedovello and Giorgio Gabellini founded Vega in 1964 as a workshop for producing welding equipment. With extensive experience gained through their work in companies such as SIAD and Magrini Galileo, they decided to combine their skills and found a firm specialising in mechanical component production.
1975
During the mid and late 70s, with competencies in precision machining Vega began to target the Medical Industry and soon after signed its first supply agreements with companies working in the medical analysis' equipment field. These initial orders soon lead VEGA to develop a specific "know-how" in processing specific materials' transformation, which was followed up with reinvestment in new technology. This insight laid the groundwork for great success in the years to come.
1984
Following a constantly growing demand for new applications and improved production & realization capacity, VEGA purchased two Continuous Numerical Control (CNC) machines. The first was a 500 MAHO cutter equipped with mobile pallet and manual tool change, the second a Gildemesiter GD200 lathe with an 8 station tool holder. These two machines represented the beginning of a new era of technological investment for Vega that continues to this day.
1990
During the 90's Vega faced rapid technological growth. An increase in customer numbers and demand for quality and productivity, coupled with the complexity of procedures carried out by the company, created the need for a new plan of investment both in machinery and human resources.
During this period VEGA commenced a strategic supply relationship with MAZAK, a leading supplier of complex mechanical engineering equipment. This now enabled Vega to diversify and target new fields such as automation, machinery, laser equipment, aerospace and molding.
1997
In 1997 VEGA certified its production for the first time and obtained the ISO 9000 from the German Institution DEKRA. After being rewarded with this certificate, VEGA developed a new management policy with the aim of providing each and every customer with what would come to be called the "4 pillars of Vega supply":
Quality - Delivery time - Competitive prices - Pre and post process customer care.
1999
Toward the end of the 90’s VEGA, having evaluated the challenges and opportunities ahead, purchased a new building and transferred production into this modern site at Scanzorosciate (Bergamo County). In 2004 the building was expanded by another 800 squared metres, making up a total of 2.400 squared meters. This extra spacial capacity enabled the company to offer not only proven assembly and testing services, but also created room for a warehouse to store raw materials and finished products.
2000
Due to the increasing demand from the North American markets VEGA opened a warehouse based in Massachusetts in order to stock both OEM components and finished products before being delivered to their final customers under consignment and kanban agreements. The US warehouse has proved to be extremely advantageous for US and Canadian customers who prefer leaving the handling of custom imports to the supplier. For many customers
VEGA does the job of importing, clearing and delivering all products to final customer's door.
2007
In 2007, following on from 5 years of marketing studies and research, Vega created the
TECHNOFRAMES and
FORTELEVIS brands in order to diversify production into new fields. These new brands are consistent with Vega's high quality ethos and combined functionality with creative design. Technoframes has grown to become the world's largest supplier of high quality ammunition cases to both organizations and individuals, with products targeting competition shooters, hunters and ammunition collectors As a result of Technoframes and Vega's well-established presence in the United States, over 60% of VEGA's production capacity is now exported Click the link on the right to watch the Technoframes movie.
